Not taking time to look over the carnage that was the camping ground after last night’s partying antics, it’s time to shake off the sleep and sweat, and head on down for some more aural assault. The festival starts filling up quickly once breakfasts and liquid breakfasts have been digested, and metalheads lumber over to the stages to see what’s up for grabs. Blackened death metal is exactly what the doctor ordered to fully wake up, and Parisian purveyors Temple Of Baal (Temple Stage) are just the ticket. Their varied setlist gives a strong dose of their melodic yet relentless sound, in fact the band barely slow down throughout their whole set. “Angstgeist” and “Slaves To The Beast” go down an absolute treat, while “Hate Is My Name” is suitably catchy and pummelling. One starts to feel sorry for the drummer’s legs with the incredible workout they get, although the stringsmen are no slackers with their instruments or vocals either. The kvltness is somewhat marred by it being midday rather than midnight, and some of the audience members in fancy dress add a comical element (hairy guys in dresses, mankinis, you get the idea).
